About Me

Growing up in a competitive sports environment, martial arts, I faced many challenges that led me one-of-two ways. Adapt and win, don't and lose.

I remember sparring in a competition, around 4th or 5th grade, where I had won each bracket that led me to face my last competitor for either first or second place. About halfway into my final match I was losing embarrassingly, repeating my mistakes. Frustrated and angry, knowing I could win, my coach calls my only timeout. He gets up from the corner side chair, standing over six feet tall, my 4th grade self looks up at him and he yanks me by my headgear and leans forward inches from my face. Furious, he tells me, "You're doing the same thing, over and over. It's not working. If you wan't to win, change it up," or something along those lines.

Twelve years later I still remember coming back and winning it all. This might've been a childhood story, but it underscores my early devlopment of adapting to my situation, and mustering the will to succeed no matter the odds.

More

Communication

My experience as a martial arts coach has evolved many skills, and developed new ones. Effective communication is among the first of those skills. Being able to effectively teach, encourage, and inspire students aged 4 to 40 years old is not an innate talent. It takes significant time and understanding to develop such abilities and I am grateful for the experience and memories made along the way.

Collaboration

As a student at UNT, I've had the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of students of varying backgrounds. My experience as an undergraduate in marketing has developed collaboration as a strong-suit. I truly believe the process of idea-creation and differing opinions within a team setting is the most valuable tool to innovative ideas.

Authenticity

Through my early professional career and general core principles, authenticity is a trait I hold close. Dishonesty is a flavor humanity unanimously dislikes. To foster productive and effective collaboration, connect with prospects through cold-calling, or building up a small business into one that makes an impact, truth and authenticity are essential. It is a virtue that my friends, family, and coworkers agree is one I live by.
